EVENT: CompoCon 1-The Question
DAYS: Feb 3 & 4
TIME: 8am-4pm
SITE: UTPA Ballroom
ONLINE: ccharlton.wix.com/compocon

The first year writing program's second annual conference on writing, inquiry, and student engagement begins this Monday. Our two main goals with this event are (1) to increase student investment in English 1302 research projects and (2) increase student networks across campus. We do this by inviting experts (from our writing program, from the library, and from a variety of university and community areas) to come sit down and have short conversations with students about their research questions and ideas. New twists for this year: we’ll have more student experts participating and we’re lucky and very excited to have Karen, Andrew, and Carl from the library joining us.

Last year, instructors and volunteers worked with over 800 students in two days, and we’re hoping to see the same amount of traffic. If you’re interested in participating or just want to come by and see how CompoCon works, we’d love to see you there. If you know other people who would be interested, please forward this email. The conference runs all day, and we pause for short introductions at times when classes normally start.

I’ll be finalizing and posting a “schedule” to the CompoCon site this weekend that has info on the types of student interests and questions circulating and the times those classes will be participating. Email me if you have question, and here’s to a great weekend!
